A closer partnership with Hong Kong Airlines

Hong Kong Airline’s network expansion collaborated with Air India

Hong Kong Airlines (HKA) signed a code share agreement with Air India. Under the code share agreement, HKA will place its code (HX) on direct flights operated by Air India between Hong Kong and three cities including Delhi, Osaka, and Seoul. The agreement enables passengers to book on HKA while with Air India as the operating carrier to an expanded network of destinations. The share-coded flights will be served by Air India’s latest Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Besides Air India, HKA has established code share arrangements with renowned carriers including EVA Airways, China Eastern Airlines, Shanghai Airlines, and Hainan Airlines, striving to provide better connections for its customers.

China Southern’s A380 taking off from Shenzhen

In May 2014, the world largest passenger carrier A380 took off from Shenzhen Bao’An International Airport, heading for Beijing. This is the second time when A380 was welcomed in Pearl River Delta – the first time was in Guangzhou. Being the largest airlines in China, China Southern now owns 5 A380 aircrafts - which are now shouldering 3 major routes Guangzhou – Beijing, Shenzhen – Beijing and Guangzhou – Los Angeles. China Southern is the only carrier in Mainland China to own this jumbo jet.

Long-awaited China Airline’s NexGen Plan

China Airlines will roll out its “NexGen” plan in tandem with the delivery of its Boeing 777-300ER aircraft starting in September 2014. China Airlines has hired a team of internationally renowned designers to construct a new brand image, including changes to its cabins, uniforms, and in-flight items. Led by top designers from the Chinese-speaking world, namely Ray Chen, William Cheung and Wang Jung-wei; the “NexGen” plan shall herald a new era for China Airlines.

CE Airlines committed largest-ever Chinese airline order for Boeing 737

China Eastern Airlines committed to what would be the largest-ever Chinese airline order for single-aisle airplanes: 80 Boeing 737s. They would be delivered in stages between 2016 and 2020. China Eastern said the airplanes have a total base list price of US$7.3 billion. In return, Boeing agreed to buy back fifteen 737-300 aircrafts and five 757 jets delivered between 1991 and 1998. The expected delivery will help further strengthen CE’s competitiveness in her domestic short-haul market.
