China Airlines Launches Freight Service to Columbus, US

China Airlines has launched scheduled charter freighter service to Columbus, Ohio, with three flights per week using 747 freighters. Columbus is China Airlines’ 11th freighter destination in the United States and its addition expands its freight network, offering greater flexibility through connecting flights to cities such as Chicago, Seattle, and Anchorage.

Columbus’ Rickenbacker Airport has strong potential as a transit hub for the eastern US. In 2017, freight volumes at this airport jumped by 70% when compared with 2016. Moreover, the total number of freighter flights grew 20% over the year with further growth anticipated. According to The International Air Transport Association (IATA) data on international air cargo volumes, China Airlines was ranked seventh in the world in 2017, with an increase of 8.9% over the previous year.
